Trip to Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou is on the Northern Border of Sichuan Province and is on the Tibetan Plateau.  The airport is at 10,500 feet, and some people feel a bit of shortness of breath with any exertion.  This place is sort of the far Eastern part of Tibet, and the people here are Tibetan rather than ethnic Chinese, and their language, customs, religion, food, are very different from the rest of China.  This area is one of the most beautiful in China, though we were there a bit early in the year so there isn't much greenery and color yet.
I have created 4 pages of photos here.  The photos are of:
  • Myself and various friends
  • Some of the scenery
  • Our hotel and surroundings
  • Various Buddhist prayer wheels and temples
  • A Buddhist Temple and Market, and some handmade embroidered rugs I bought
  • A dinner with a Tibetan Buddhist family, with lamb spit-roasted outdoors
  • A stage show we saw, with Tibetan performers - singers and a chorus line that were amazingly good
  • A mock Tibetan wedding where men from the audience competed in a kind of 'tug-of-war' contest to see who would be the bridegroom.  I came in second
