Location: University located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province Staff Required: 45 Full-time English / ESL teachers. Please Note: We need only Native English speakers from Canada, the USA, Australia, Britain and New Zealand, having a reasonably neutral speaking accent. Education: Bachelor's degree or above. Major: English (linguistics or Literature); education and history or other relevant business majors; TESOL certificate an asset. Work experience: One year of teaching preferred. Contract Duration: One year (From August to June); can be renewed indefinitely. Courses: Vary; Oral English, Writing, British and American Literature/Culture, Film, and/or Journalistic English, International trade, Business English to university freshman to senior students aged 17 to 25. Workload: Nine 2-hour lessons per week. Monthly salary in RMB: Salary will depend on relevant qualifications and teaching experience and will be in the range from 3800 RMB to 5200 RMB per month; plus accommodation, bills and staff bus. Flight Expenses: On arrival we will refund outward board flight tickets and on completion of the contract we pay for your return tickets. Annual bonus for traveling (RMB) on top of salary: RMB 1500 as a vacation subsidy in the winter vacation. If the contract is renewed for another year, additional RMB 1500 shall be provided for the summer vacation. Accommodation: Provided on or just outside campus. Apartments will be arranged depending on relevant qualifications, your arrival time, etc. Fully furnished Apartments with 2 or 3 bedrooms plus a sitting room, a kitchen, a bathroom for the married teachers; apartments with 1 bedroom plus a kitchen and a bathroom for the single teachers (large living and dining room area), security building, personal computer with 24-hour free internet access, gas cooker, microwave, TV, 24-hour hot water, washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner, heating, etc. Leisure Time: With only 18 hours teaching per week, there is lots of time to master the Chinese language, mix with both teachers and students, or pop into town on the daily free school bus to go shopping. Between your weekends and more than 7 weeks paid vacation before your summer holiday, the location allows for some of the best traveling within China. As Henan is one of the least developed provinces, the cost of living is exceptionally low and with a local workers salary set at between 200 and 800 RMB, you will have more than enough to do everything you want in China and take a little home with you. The University: is situated a short bus ride away from the city center in the Twin Lakes Developing Zone. The area is alive with students, as it is host to three large universities and several schools. The campus has several picturesque lakes, pagodas, causeways and bridges. The students make constant use of the excellent sports facilities sited around the campus. The accommodation is excellent and very spacious with good views of the lakes and all the mod cons. The campus is located in a clean and quiet environment. It covers an area of over 730,000 sq. meters with a building area of more than 300,000 square meters. There are more than 40 impressive buildings with the artistic combination of oriental and western style. The college is composed of complete facilities and a strong teaching faculty. The college now has nearly 16,000 full-time undergraduates and professional college graduates, with 8 departments and one Adult Education Center, offering more than 25 specialties. The Province: Situated in the heart of the Middle Kingdom, Henan is home to China’s 3,500-year history and is only a stone's throw away from several of the country's most visited attractions. Henan has a population of about 93 million and is developing at an incredible rate due to most of the country's vast rail network passing through. The pace of change has created an interesting place to observe China's transformation into the 21st century. But Henan is not yet as highly developed as Shanghai or Beijing, so Zhengzhou is one of the few places left in the country to get a true taste of traditional Chinese life while observing the transformation. The City: Zhengzhou, 3,600 years old, with a population of about 7 million, and resting on Mount Songshan, is the capital of Henan Province and one of the oldest central cities in China, a communications hub and a strategic place throughout the various dynasties. Its long history leaves Zhengzhou abundant cultural heritages. Within the municipal area, there are more than 1400 cultural relics, 26 of which are key sights under state protection. Mount Songshan's Scenic Area is one of China's key attractions, and The Shaolin Temple located in the embrace of Mount Songshan is the source of the Shaolin Kung Fu that has gained worldwide fame. There are a number of old towns, ancient tombs, passes, battlefields, and so on, surrounding this famous city. The city takes great pride in being a Top Tourist City of China and in its fame as a place of National Historical and Cultural importance. But also, the Zhengdong New Area (see the 'island city’ in the attached photo) is but one of the many modern attractions. In the Songshan area, there are the Observatory of the Yuan Dynasty - the oldest astronomical structures in China, the Songyang Academy - one of the four major academies in the Song Dynasty, the Zhongyue Temple - the largest existing block of Taoist buildings in China. Around Zhengzhou City, numerous ruins of ancient towns, cultures, tombs, buildings, passes and battlefields have been found. |
